I dined in at Conrad's Restaurant in Sudbury on an early Saturday evening around 5 PM. The place wasn't too busy (during covid) and masks were required except when seated. This was a backup restaurant choice not too long ago for me and my dining buddy, just in case we couldn't get a reservation at a very popular country inn at the other end of town (we got lucky). I needed to visit Conrad's soon after. I was seated in the bar area since I was dining solo and sat at the far end of the bar area near a big screen TV mounted on the wall. There are also plexiglass dividers at the bar counter, but none where I was seated. A family of 5 arrived after me and actually sat in the bar area barely 6 feet from my table (what about the rest of the restaurant?) I kept my mask on most of the time since the older males at the adjacent table were talking loudly to their kids about American history including the state capitals, American flag and US Presidents. FYI, all US Presidents must be born in the United States including Number 44 (they were telling their young kids he was only President born in another country?????). Anyways, I was given printed menus and there is also a QR code to scan for digital menus. I quickly ordered my food. For a starter, the Rhode Island Style Calamari ($10.99) was comprised of lightly fried soft calamari rings tossed in oil and spices and hot peppers, marinara sauce for dipping. I enjoyed the tangy, not too spicy flavors. For dinner, the Fried Haddock Sandwich ($9.99) with choice of side (Potato Salad) and dill pickle slices was very good. The breaded haddock was a good sized piece, tender and flaky inside and not too greasy topped with tomato slices and romaine lettuce, tartar sauce on the side. The red skin potato salad was very dense and filling. For the most part, the service was very prompt, getting my food and ice water in quick order. However, the waitress disappeared and I eventually got my check 15 minutes later after request. Overall, the food was pretty good and priced fairly. However, I did not feel comfortable with a larger party being allowed to be seated close to me after I was seated in the corner with the intention of trying to dine safely.
