Found this gem as it was close to our hotel. After a perfect dinner, we had to come back for lunch. The food is super good, atmosphere and service great - but the selection of wine just outstanding. A must for any wine (and food) lover. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: €30–40 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

We had a very nice dinner at Contrario Bistrot near our rental apartment in Rome. Excellent authentic spot near the Colosseum (there aren’t many!). We really enjoyed the charcuterie board, the stracciatella and tartufo toast and the lasagna. We are not fans of the thick white sauces used in Roman dishes so we enjoyed the cannelloni and cacio e pepe meatballs a bit less, but everything was good. Service was also excellent! The best Dinner we had in Italy over 10 days, 3 in Rome, 6 on the Amalfi coast. Our servers name was Elvis and he was professional, knowledgeable and paced our experience perfectly. The wine list was impressive and moderately priced. The Carpaccio was delicious, perfect way to start. Next, the Burrata was delicious and not too filling. I had the beef cheek and my wife the Sea Bass. The Beef Cheek was fork splitting tender. After finishing the bottle of Pinot Nior Riserva, Elvis open a delicious bottle for me to taste a glass of Roero Riservaperfect. He insisted we try their cheesecake which was so much lighter than the American counterpart and he capped it off with a delicious Moscato. Our final night in Rome was Perfect! Thank you Elvis!
