Our organization wanted to make this year's cheer and football banquet extra special. After discussing all the options and details we booked the Core Event Center. It was made clear from the very beginning that this was a little kids event. We spent so much time fine tuning every detail. The day before the event we called to confirm our arrival time at 8. Was told that the chef who would let us in wouldn't be there until 9 even though when we discussed setup we were told 8. Day of, we all arrive to locked doors and no chef. We waited an extra half an hour to 45 minutes for the chef to show up and let us in. This event was for almost 500 people. We had a huge amount of setting up to be done and so little time that things were still being put together minutes before our guests arrived. That hour and a half made a huge difference. We had to cut out some decorations because we didn't have time to put them out. When walking in the room we realized that there were some decorations from the wedding the night before still left around, chairs without covers, table settings without napkins, and even tables and chairs not put in the right places. Our guests obviously had no idea that things were going wrong and loved walking in. They were so impressed in the look of the place. We immediately sat down for dinner. We ordered an adult food buffet and a child's food buffet. We had 191 kids that came to our event between kindergarten to 6th grade. When the kids went to get their plates was when we realized the ENTIRE kids buffet was missing. So this event for the kids had no food for the kids. There was also no way for the kids to access drinks. We were to have sodas and water and the only place to get them was the bar, with a very very long bar line. How upset would you be to come to an event to celebrate your child and they ended up going hungry and thirsty. Immediately when parents realized that we didn't have our kids buffet that the kids were so excited about they started getting up and leaving. We were empty and cleaned up before our banquet was even supposed to be over. It was pretty devastating. This place ruined this event for us. We only get to celebrate these kids this one time a year, and our seniors once in their lifetime. This was it and it was so disappointing. The staff was so stressed and upset I felt terrible for them. Instead of the owner going out of his way to apologize and try to make things right, he was trying to justify things, and decided to blame it on us, the schedules, and the staff. This was not on the staff. The young kids working did the best they could with what they were given. I would NEVER recommend relying on this place for your event. You might be the unlucky ones that end up hungry and thirsty for 4 hours next time.
