Checked out Crete Tea Room this morning and honestly? Phoenix may have just gained another dangerously photogenic café that tricks you into believing you’re about to become the kind of person who journals regularly and answers emails on time. Walking in felt like stepping into a minimalist little oasis somewhere between Tokyo, Brooklyn, and “someone on Pinterest definitely has this saved on a mood board.” The vibe is clean, warm, modern, plant-filled, and effortlessly cool without trying too hard. Concrete counters, soft woods, hanging greenery, cozy lounge seating, and enough natural light to make every drink look like it belongs in a lifestyle magazine. Now yes the surrounding stretch of Miracle Mile still has a little bit of that “trust the process” energy at the moment. But the area is very clearly in the middle of a revival era, with historic restoration and new businesses slowly bringing the district back toward its original glory. Places like Crete genuinely make you excited for what this part of Phoenix is becoming. The barista was an absolute gem and happily walked me through some of their most popular drinks. While they’re known for their matcha lattes (it is a tea room after all), almost any of the drinks can be swapped over to espresso for those of us who need caffeine strong enough to restart our personality. After a brief moment of staring at the menu like it was the SATs, I landed on the Banana Latte, sub espresso for matcha, along with one of their rotating pastries. And let me tell you that drink was smooth, creamy, lightly sweet, and dangerously easy to inhale. But the real star of the morning? The pop tart. Apparently the pastries rotate every few weeks, which honestly feels both exciting and emotionally manipulative because now I’m going to have to keep coming back to see what they make next. The pop tart today was absolutely perfect: buttery, flaky, soft in the center, lightly crisp on the edges, and somehow tasted homemade in the best possible way. Everything about this place screamed: “Congratulations. You’ve officially found your new favorite Phoenix café.” 10/10 would absolutely sit here pretending to work while ordering a second latte again. I really enjoyed the coffee and interior had a unique style, however, I was very disappointed with the customer service. It was my first time here and prices for coffee were not listed on menu. The prices ended up being on the higher side imo and wish they were listed on the menu for transparency. I tried to have an interaction w the barista but he was not very personable. The only reason I have 2 stars was because he walked the drinks to our table and to provide benefit of the doubt. Price per person: $1–10 Food: 4 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 4
