Stopped by for lunch after visiting the science centre. Could not have asked for better! Great welcome, excellent lunch and a superb pint on a hot day. Love the cricket theme, we shall return. Service: 4

Lovely pub in a fabulous setting. Room, booked as a double was a single with an extra bed. We had to squeeze between the wall and other bed to reach the desk/window/ensuite. Room itself a bit shabby - stains on ceiling and a good few spiders! The delivery of barrels at 6am right under our window did not make for a peaceful stay. I wouldn't go back. Service: 5

Hi Vivian, We are sorry you felt your stay warranted giving a small self-employed business a 2 star review. At the time you made your booking of our "twin room" there were other rooms available to book however these were at a slightly higher price. Our family and King room were still available, being booked a few days after you booked your room. We don't advertise the twin as a double bed, it is advertised as a twin. https://www.thecricketerseaston.co.uk/twin-room You booked our twin room a few weeks before your arrival which is listed as a small twin room on our website with photos and all of our photos on the booking platforms are updated regularly. I can only apologise if you weren't happy, however the customer has full say in the room they get at point of booking based on their preference of price and availability. We can also only apologise for a beer delivery, however this is also one of the quirks of booking to stay above a working business. I have checked back on our call logs and our delivery driver called at 6:28am to say they would be ten minutes away and didn't arrive until 6:45am. We can also assure you house spiders are hoovered daily as the landlady is petrified of them so hoovers them up but in the constant battle to try and keep the rooms cool and windows open during harvest season in a country pub, they do come back. What a lovely experience we had at the cricketers inn. After a very busy day at the local space museum with two very tired children, we saw a sign for the cricketers inn which was just a short country lane drive away. With beautiful outdoor seating and flourishing summer flower baskets, it was very inviting. We parked the car in the generous car park whilst I checked if menus were suitable for children.i walked in and received a very warm welcome from the owner and staff. There was a separate children’s menu including activities offering scampi, burgers, nuggets and pizza. Adult menus served all the classics including a rib eye, very well priced. I brought the rest of the family in- atmosphere was calming for our SEND child. Staff attended to us promptly and were friendly to the children. The owner chatted and shared her new baby. Very friendly. Husband had the lamb cutlet rossoto, which was a very generous portion. I had the chicken and leek pie- options were mash or two types of chips. The pie was a large slice with beautiful pastry and was served with honey carrots, leeks and cabbage and bacon. I’d have eaten the sides alone - delicious! Children’s portions were large. Our 5yo autistic son ate a pizza which was 4 slices with chips and the little 3yo chose chicken nuggets and chips - food was freshly cooked - pizza freshly made. Proper food! Menus also offered freshly baked pizzas on a separate sheet. All well known drinks available as well as some local offerings. Altogether a very pleasant experience. I would definitely visit with family again and would also make a night of it with friends. Beautiful village too. We were served by kit, Andrew, Steff and Matt Service: 5
