D & Cook is an air-conditioned zi char–style restaurant located in Taman Paya Emas, near Cheng. Before opening this shop, the owner was well known in the neighbourhood for frying char kuey teow right at the shopfront. Many residents went there specifically for his wok-fried dishes, and over time he built a strong reputation for consistent flavour and skill. With D & Cook, he has moved from a simple stall to a proper dining space, yet the familiar taste and homestyle cooking remain unchanged. For this visit, we ordered the Creamy Butter Prawn Ball (RM20), Sweet Potato Leaves (RM16), Signature Tofu (RM12) and Sweet and Sour Pork (RM20). The creamy butter prawn ball had a rich, aromatic sauce with a good balance of sweet and savoury. The sweet potato leaves were fresh, lightly stir-fried with garlic, and not oily. The signature tofu was soft inside, slightly crispy on the outside, and well complemented by the gravy. The sweet and sour pork had tender meat coated in a balanced sauce that was neither too sweet nor too sour. The dining area is clean, bright and comfortable, making it a pleasant place for family meals. Customer service is friendly, and dishes are served quickly even during peak hours. Parking is very convenient, which is a big plus for this area. Overall, D & Cook offers good-tasting, well-priced dishes in a comfortable setting, making it a reliable choice for everyday dining in Taman Paya Emas.
