I’m honestly really disappointed with my recent experience at DP’s Pub in Garfield. I’ve been coming here for years, long before the fire and reopening, and never once had an issue until this visit. From the moment my family and I walked in, I immediately felt unwelcome. The waitress, Monica, gave off an attitude right away that made it seem like we were a problem for even being there. The worst part is I had a reservation for 5 PM, yet I was left standing at the bar holding my son in his car seat for around 10 minutes waiting to even be acknowledged. Meanwhile, three groups that came in after us with no reservations were immediately sat down and taken care of. I’m not the type to throw the word racist around lightly, but when every one of those groups was white and we were being treated completely differently, it’s hard not to question it. The service only got worse from there. Every time we asked for something, the response was a cold “sure,” while other tables were getting smiles, conversations, and “no problem, anything else you guys need?” Not once did Monika come over to check on us or ask if we needed anything during the meal. To make matters worse, the food was mediocre at best and nowhere near what I remembered DP’s being known for. It genuinely sucks having to leave a review like this because DP’s has always been a staple in Garfield to me, but nobody should go out to eat with their family and leave feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome. The ENTIRE bathroom floor and sink were COVERED in dead gnats. After seeing that, I noticed that there were also dead gnats scattered on the bar and tables as well. The staff was really friendly and I really wanted to try this place but I couldn't stomach thinking about what else the gnats might be on in the kitchen. I understand it's probably hard being so close to the river but maybe if they swept them up periodically I wouldn't have noticed. Service: 5 Atmosphere: 1
