De Soto's Seafood Kitchen is a VERY popular spot with the snowbirds during the off season as they offer a nice seniors menu here with some good deals. So don't be surprised if you encounter the results of this popularity as there can be quite a substantial line of people waiting to get in right before the restaurants opening time. I've visited here during times when there was no wait and other times when there was a substantial wait so just be prepared for the potential of a wait when planning your visit here. When you finally get seated inside De Soto's you get to start your meal here with a really enjoyable experience of two mini bread loaf "rolls" of a dark bread loaf and white bread loaf served with real butter and these are really delicious breads with my favorite being the dark loaf. They offer a really excellent selection of seafood choices prepared in various ways that should satisfy most folks. They have one of the best selections of different varieties of local fish here among all the restaurants in the area. They offer a "bisque" that seems more like a watery chowder to me (which I wouldn't suggest and even my server recommended to avoid it) and while they also offer a gumbo (which is way better than the bisque) don't expect a gumbo like you can get in Louisiana. I've eaten quite a lot of the seafood options here and really enjoyed them in preparations ranging from fried to blackened. De Soto's should also be acclaimed for their impressive selection of good side items with the star of the show to my taste being their sweet potato casserole. I have also tried the burger here and while it was decent there are much better burgers in the area so unless you just hate seafood I probably wouldn't bother with that. Overall this place offers a nice variety along with a good environment. Service is typically good while during their more crowded times it can lag a bit which is to be expected. The snowbird crowd does tend to like to get here EARLY so my usual strategy of attempting to go to popular places at off times doesn't work very well here for supper time so depending on the season there might be a big crowd or very few people to contend with in your quest to gain rapid entry into this popular spot. For dessert I would suggest you leave some room for the business right next door "Cherry On Top" which serves great ice cream and snowballs.
