BYO seat cushion. There are plenty of booths in this bar which would normally be a plus, but OMG the seats are super uncomfortable - like sitting on a concrete slab. Even though the service was friendly and the drinks were fine, my uncushioned butt was telling me to get the hell out of there after one drink! The chairs at the individual tables didn't look very comfy either. I know I sound like an old lady (which I'm not BTW) but am I wrong to believe that bars should be cosy and have comfy lounges - even the hip bars? People who used to visit Red Door will be sorely (!) disappointed.

Deli Wine Bar is Surry Hills latest dive bar bistro venue – the strength of the venue lies the powerful vistas you encouter making you way to the venue. Someone casually mentioned that Sophia Street’s vista makes it one of the most photographed street in the city and with the that lengthy vista, is it any surprise? We came from the top end of sophia street and that’s the view down. You can just about make out the entry to Deli Wine Bar – with the trio standing at it threshold. Walk right to where Deli Wine Bar is and this is what you’ll see. A faux neon sign and bit of a gateway. Inside Deli Wine Bar is a sandstone cave like environ with 3x enclossed boths, plenty of seating, open booths and cooly sophisticated feel. Amusingly, the music playing is this early/late noughties pop mix – don’t be surprised if you hear spice girls. There were tracks that played that made us smile like “calling mr raider” – not fully sure on track name but its a right blast from the past. Curiously, at Deli Wine Bar you can have wine by 1/2 the glass – have a look at the menu just here. Upfront. There’s an array of cheese that you can get for the cheese board. The eats at Deli Wine bar – consist of Oysters, Crisps, barsnacks, olives, bread and charcuterie plates. The menu firmly calls upon the “deli” part of the venue name. We drop back in post launch and checked in for some vino. A crisp pinot Gris from Mysterious Diggins. Darrell Felstead at his reworked Foveaux St Dining. Look for that glimmer. Sophia Street.
