Behind the facade of a fast food takeaway there is a nice little restaurant. The operators come from the Comoros, an archipelago between Madagascar and Mozambique. When we arrived at 6:30 p.m., dinner was still being prepared. The nice landlady offered to prepare fish and chicken for us after waiting a bit. Unfortunately, the other dishes weren't ready yet. Both dishes came to the table after a relatively short time and were very tasty. The chicken leg is tenderly braised in a spicy sauce with rice and salad. The fish is exotically seasoned and fried crispy with an Indian-style curry rice and also salad. We enjoyed both dishes very much! As a “dessert” we were offered a drink made from orange juice, lemon juice and some vanilla. The combination of flavors was as surprising as it was pleasant. The lady of the house then chatted with us a bit and we found out that there are typically stews, lots of sauces, and fish and shrimp dishes. The culinary influences of COM'UN DELICE come from African, Indian and Arabic spices (the Comoros are predominantly Muslim). There is no alcohol like pork, which is in no way missed given the quality of what is on offer. If the path ever takes us to Montellimar again, we would be happy to visit COM'UN DELICE again and try more delicacies.
