This experience, couldn't go unaddressed.
Filthy. Sticky, gooey table tops and seating. Septic may be in a state of neglect as first, restroom toilet would not flush then sink would not drain. Filthy smell upon entry and restrooms are remarkably worse. It's a Denny's so typically a Sunday night (11:30 pm) would be a time of playing catch up from a busy day, I get it. There is no way that this was the case. This is a gross accumulation of filth.
The insult to injury, was the caustic, miserable staff member. I could go into a long diatribe about the obvious sociopathic issues this woman has but simply, she has no business dealing w/ the public, on any level. I will go into detail about the experience. She wasn't our server to begin with so after listening to her yelling at other staff members and just being obnoxiously loud from the time we walked in, she yells out from the turn out of the servers alley, "Who's got the t-bone?" and in no uncertain terms huffed and slammed the plates down after finding she had them reversed. We had to halt her wordless march back to the kitchen to explain that there were multiple items missing. Her response was a flip of the hand, "yeah, it's coming". Really??! Nothing was as ordered or appetizing on any level. When my husband went to the counter with his plate to ask if someone missed the "rare" on the steak, she was argumentative and without solution. At this point this man (my husband) who always manages to see the good in everyone) had had enough. He said "We're not eating anything here. let's go". Nothing had been touched as it was the worst we've ever had put in front of us. As we started out the door, loud mouth says to someone behind the counter. "You need to run out and get their license plate number so we can call the police". Yes, she really did. So I went back to the counter and said she ought to do that. I offered her my name and phone number as well and also asked for a managerial contact so I could share the story of our experience. She wanted to argue about something, anything and never once asked if there was a solution. She didn't have a name tag or I would have included her name.
I've eaten at Denny's all over the country. Truck stops, small towns, big cities etc. We lived in Mexico for a time and have eaten at roadside cafes often. I'm not above anything that's prepared in a clean kitchen with a sense of pride. Never, have I had an experience like this. I feel bad for the employees trying to make a living in the state of this facility and especially for those who get to work along with the individual mentioned. I'd rather go hungry.
Someone should open a 24 hour diner in Ruidoso, NM. There certainly wouldn't be any competition.
