Lovely restaurant in an old technical college building. Now has a brewery and a restaurant. Food was amazing as was the service. You can order a beer paddle to taste their brewery beers. We’ll be back! Service: Dine in Meal type: Lunch Price per person: A$40–60

We went here on Wednesday, last minute, for a mini celebration as we had some good news. The food was diabolically bad and hugely overpriced. The fact that I am posting this publicly only serves as how terrible it was. The kids burger was a slider (which was fine) but the patty was the size of a meatball and only took up about 50% of the slider. This cost $12. The kids pizza was equally tiny - toddler sized really, and really helpfully came out last, about 10 minutes after the first kids meal and 5 mins after the adult meal. The sharing platter my husband and I paid nearly $70 for was also terrible. Overcooked and dry chicken wings, sausages wrapped in bacon so overcooked it was black and splintered off into shards when bitten. A total disappointment overall and safe to say we would encourage anyone considering visiting to steer clear! Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: A$20–40

Not recommended on all accounts apart from the poor (stressed out) waitresses who had to serve up this rubbish. We're disappointed as well given it was part of our 25th anniversary celebrations, the memory is now embedded on our past. Shame on you (the cook &/or owners, 4 Hearts Brewing?) for the misrepresentation & false advertising. I.e & to quote: "Dovetails Restaurant works closely with our suppliers to create seasonal menus celebrating fantastic flavour. From morning to evening, our chefs craft stories in the kitchen to serve quality on your plate." then: Dovetails is relaxed Modern Australian dining at its best, suited to those with a passion for fresh, quality .. etc"1. flavour. both the antipasto ($14) & the gnocchi ($24) was bland to the point of being inedible. 1a. to my absolute disgust the gnocchi was served on a finger burning plate with the contents luke warm.1b. no bread provided for the traditional mop up of antipasto. Stingy to say the least.2. Both entree & main that the accompanying patron ordered was very substandard , scallops were of the reconstituted variety, not fresh & most probably frozen, again these had no taste & the "Black Angus" moo moo was again very substandard. 3. When questions were raised re the obvious these were not presented to the cook (one could hardly lay a chef title on this hack). Evidently problems with due process are raised 'after' due to the cook/manager having, & I again quote the waitress, "no time o address our concerns"4. On paying what was an exorbitant bill given the fare, the till person asked us innocently how the experience was. I suggested (jokingly) they provide brown paper bags for further patronage culinary experiences .... she did not understand. It is fairly obvious the owners/ managers or cooks have no idea what they are doing here. Perhaps they should stick to brewing. Am honest public reply would be appreciated if not essential in the interests of Dovetails (et al) quality assurance statements.
