We had an excellent Saturday lunch at Eight at Gazegill to celebrate a special birthday. Our relative lives locally and chose to celebrate at Eight from a list of options I'd researched. Food - we all chose from the set lunch menu, which provided sufficient options to cater for three generations with quite different preferences. The fish was delicious - perfectly cooked - and the vegetarian option was "the best pasta I've ever had" according to the person who chose it. It was exceptionally good value for money. Service - this was absolutely stand out. There were lots of staff who looked after us brilliantly. I would describe the service as attentive but not fussy. My husband didn't have a dessert and they offered him a tea or coffee as an alternative, which was a kind thought. The food came promptly but without feeling rushed at any point. Atmosphere - this was perfect for what we wanted. The large restaurant was almost full on a wet Saturday lunchtime with a mix of couples (of all ages) and larger family groups. Tables are well spaced and you don't feel crammed in. The atmosphere was calm despite the number of diners and it was easy to hold a conversation despite inevitable background noise. Really very highly recommended and we would return for another special meal. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
