I have a feeling this is normally a four star restaurant, but there are a few things that brought this down to three stars for us. First, the good stuff. The food and drinks were good. We got the King Charles ribeye with the BBQ carrots and Fingerling Potatoes. Steak and carrots were great. The potatoes were meh. We probably wouldn’t get those again. My smoked Old Fashioned was one of the best I’ve had while my Negroni was too sweet and unbalanced. My wife’s gin drink (I forgot the name) was good. The s'mores dessert was tasty although I’d probably switch out the pine nuts for peanuts. They also gave us a complimentary piece of chocolate cake as we were celebrating a birthday. It was good. Service was solid but unspectacular. It was about what you’d expect when dropping a few hundred dollars on a meal. Onto the bad stuff. First, we were sat at one of the only tables without a view at a restaurant known for the views. If we leaned back in our chairs, we could see the lagoon. Otherwise we were staring at a wall. Honestly, why is this table even there?Next, they were out of Filet Mignon at 6:30! This was due to a wedding rehearsal dinner. I have to imagine filet and ribeye are the two most popular steaks. How do you run out? And to top it off, we weren’t told about it until we were ordering. You gave us a whole tour of the menu and neglected to mention that! And finally, the most annoying part of the night…the wedding party finished up around 7 and they could not have been louder as they were leaving the restaurant. We’re talking 20-30 min of not being able to hear ourselves speak at the table and getting noise notifications on my watch. The servers or manager should’ve moved the party along at some point as it was running everyone else’s experience. And the table in front of us must’ve known the wedding party because for most of the dinner, members of the wedding part were standing at the table in front of us which was very distracting. Here’s a polished review that is firm, factual, and more likely to be taken seriously: Unfortunately, this was a very disappointing experience. We were a party of five and ended up sitting at the bar because reservations were unavailable, which was perfectly fine with us. The issue wasn’t the seating—it was the wait. We waited approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes for our food. The table ahead of us had warned us it would take that long, and unfortunately they were right. When our meals finally arrived, the steaks were only warm and my burger was cold. The bartender was pleasant enough, but the overall service was extremely slow and lacked communication. Waiting nearly two hours for simple menu items is unacceptable. The property and grounds are beautiful, but the service completely overshadowed the experience. I left tired, frustrated, and disappointed. I rarely write negative reviews, but I cannot recommend this restaurant. If you’re expecting timely service, this is not the place. Sadly, despite the beautiful setting, I will not be returning. It may be that they are still recovering from the fire but something is off about this place. At the moment the restaurant is overpriced for the quality of food. They used to have these remarkable probably house made croissants. In our last visit it looked like they were using grocery store croissants. I ordered the SRF Denver stake which I have made at home. It is a very flavorful cut. Ember & Rye’s version was strikingly tasteless. Made me wonder if I was served a different cut of meat. Food: 2 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4 Meal type: Dinner
