We came for brunch, and with a fixed menu you would expect things to run smoothly. Unfortunately, the experience was unacceptable due to the extremely long wait times. Even getting drinks took a long time, and only after repeatedly asking did small appetizers arrive. We had explained several times that we needed to leave by 12:15 and were repeatedly promised the food was “coming soon”, yet the main dishes never arrived. In the end, we had to leave after an hour without eating. While this isn’t a buffet brunch, the 1.5 hours we had planned should have been more than enough for a fixed menu. Several nearby tables were visibly frustrated with the same delays. A fixed brunch service should never run this poorly. A very disappointing and frustrating experience, and a complete waste of a Saturday morning. Price per person: kr 400–500 Food: 2 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1

Yesterday we came for the almost preset brunch menu, but waited 30 minutes before we could catch our waiters attention and ask her to come and take our order. After 45 minutes we received our drinks – except for the bottle of water we had also asked for. After an hour, we still hadn’t received the appetizers and had to go to the counter ourselves to ask for them, without any acknowledgment or apology for the delay. The mains arrived after 1.5 hours, followed by dessert, where part of it was unfortunately burned. When we arrived, there were two waiters for four tables, which should be manageable – especially with a preset menu! (I will give an applause for the male waiter, who seemed like he was covering more than his responsibilities) Later, when the restaurant was nearly full, they were three waiters, that btw also had to prepare the drinks themselves, and it was clear that they were understaffed. We ended up spending 2.5 hours on a preset menu, received only a brief apology, and no compensation for a very disappointing experience, and several tables around us were visibly frustrated as well. I would give it 10 stars if I could. What an unforgettable experience! I’ve always loved foie gras, but the way Essens prepares it is on an entirely different level. I’m still speechless it was truly the best food I’ve ever tasted. The sauces and the flavors of each dish were so exquisite they make you rethink what “perfect” even means. This meal redefined perfection for me. Absolutely 100% recommended! Price per person: kr 600–700 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
