Don't get the fried chicken sandwich. I should've known from a market that mainly carries high-end shelved items that I should skip the fried chicken sandwich. But the confusing part was when I asked if the sandwiches were hot or cold, the woman told either. To me, that sounds like they're heating up pre made sandwiches, and at $14 per sandwich, the fried chicken options suddenly became more compelling. Well to their credit, the outside batter is crispy, and the flavors with the cabbage and the sauce were a nice touch. The only problem was that the cook nearly turned that chicken thigh into leather. It's been a long time since I've paid for chicken that over-cooked. And it wasnt just the edges, the center was very tough and hard to chew. Not too mention I waited 20 minutes for this sandwich. That wait alone ate up most of my lunch break. Any reasonable kitchen would have fried the chicken before noon, and called a loss on the leftover chicken that doesnt sell. Hi Justin,Thank you for stopping in and taking the time to share your detailed feedback.Just to clarify, when we say our sandwiches are available hot or cold, we mean that we offer both hot, toasted sandwiches and cold deli-style sandwiches. We don’t heat up pre-made sandwiches.We do note on our paper menu that the fried chicken takes 10–15 minutes to prepare, but we’re sorry if we didn’t clearly communicate that when you ordered or if it took longer than usual. Feast Market & Cafe is the cutest little market in Charlottesville! There were so many unique and fun finds, and I loved browsing all the wine, beer, cider, food, baked goods, and specialty items. They seriously have a little bit of everything. The cashier was so friendly and greeted me right away, asking if I needed any help. She helped me find some NA drinks and even recommended a few wines, which I really appreciated. Fair warning: this is definitely one of those places where you can walk in “just to look” and somehow spend $100 in 10 minutes… because that’s exactly what I did! I left with a bunch of fun and unique goodies that I’m excited to try. Such a cute spot with a great selection and friendly service. I’ll definitely be stopping back whenever I’m in Charlottesville again!
