We found ourselves in the LaQuinta area this morning and it was approaching lunchtime so I made a beeline for Fisherman's Market & Grill. The facility is tucked away in a nice mini-mall situated at the corner of Highway 111 and Washington. As we entered the attractively decorated restaurant around 11:30AM we were warmly greeted by the two men taking orders. I ordered the cod-based Fish & Chips plate which came with your choice of several sides. I requested the coleslaw to compare with the many other versions of this salad staple. My dining companion selected grilled halibut with steamed vegetables. There are a good number of tables in the dining area accommodating quite a few diners. The walls of the restaurant are festooned with numerous photographs of various fishing and seafaring subjects to set the appropriate tone here. Our food was delivered to our table after a brief wait and our anticipation was rewarded with nice plates of yumminess. My cod was perfectly flaky and cooked just to the appropriate level of doneness. The batter was just right, not too excessive nor too barren. The coleslaw was fresh and crisp without much in the way of creaminess. Good, just not memorable. The chunky, well seasoned potato wedges were a hit with me as well as my dining friend who kept reaching for one from my plate when I wasn't paying attention. The halibut arrived cooked to proper temperature but was a bit lacking in flavor. A visit to the fresh herb department would help bring out more flavor with this already tasty fish. Our friendly hosts visited us a couple of times to check on our satisfaction and any needs. The restrooms were, clean, nice smelling, fully stocked and ready for your business. An enjoyable visit and meal at Fisherman's Market and Grill that will definitely see us returning. Four solid stars!
