Just had the best Asian food since I have been in NC, that’s thirty years. Everything was fresh and delicious. Service was great. The location and atmosphere were outstanding. It’s my new local! If I could give it 6 stars I would. Price per person: $20–30 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

My wife and I got reacquainted with Five Star after living away for over two decades. What a homecoming it was! Wonderful food, just as we had remembered, with efficient service in an artful, eclectic, urban space. We will be back for more! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Atmosphere was cool. It was my first time, but the two people I went with had been there before. They apparently remodeled or changed something. New staff maybe? Unsure. The food was okay. We got the heat seaker shrimp, the crispy sesame beef, wonton soup, the scallion pancakes, and low mein noodles. Apparently the quality has gone downhill. We COULD NOT make sense of the pricing of $13.55 greenbeans though so we didnt get it. Food came out super fast which was my first red flag.. pancakes were greasy, the beef was pretty good, just a lot of breading.. the wonton soup I didnt have but was told it could have had more flavor. The heat seaker shrimp were good but not very crispy.. our server had great energy at first, then the vibe changed and it seemed like 6 different people kept checking in and asking how things were. I understand maybe new cooks, new management, just want to make sure things are okay but we got checked on by other people more than our own server. Also having to be interrupted multiple times to answer if food was good just felt like too much. I think 3 different people asked if we wanted boxes for leftovers but we didnt want to take them! It wasnt worth it. Our server asked if we wanted dessert and we kindly said no and under his breath I heard “I was just offering”. Like eventually I didnt like how he was and maybe he was upset we had to ask someone else to bring us things because he wasnt checking on our table, but we had to get someones attention. He just had a lot of happy energy until nearing the end which felt like something happened to change his demeanor. The weirdest part of the whole experience was as we left and were walking to our car on the side of the building, this tall bald man for whatever reason opens the backdoor and proceeds to shout to us to have a good night. Maybe im overthinking it but I have never left a restaurant and had someone make that effort to say goodnightit just felt weird. anyway this was longer than I meant but long story short food was ok. Price per person: $50–60 Food: 2 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 4
