I recently ate here and loved my food. The fried chicken, smothered fried chicken, fried fish, Mac and cheese, yams, the list goes on... Were all great. If you're a true Southern like myself, DON'T get the banana pudding. It has no bananas... That was the only thing I was disappointed about. The sweet tea was also a pleasant surprise for it to be as sweet as it was out in CA. Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $20–30 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

The first time I went I did an order to go. The macaroni was really good, the yams were like pureed baby food, the catfish nuggets were good ( could have been fried a bit harder) and their fried green tomatoes were very good. So over all an okay visit. I wanted some of their Mac n cheese again so I decided to give it a try again( maybe I'd have better luck on the sweet potatoes) So I ordered just about a repeat of the first order ( oh yeah I grabbed two Kool-aids which were good). NOW THIS IS WHERE IT GETS WEIRD AND THEY HAVE FOREVER LOST MY BUSINESS. As in my first visit I did an order to go ( Outside) The woman who took my order and charged me charged me twice. She told me the first transaction had not gone through, so instead of me checking my app (Navy Federal) I scanned my card again. Once I stepped away I noticed i was charged twice almost $60x 2. I went back to the woman explained and showed her how I'd been charged twice. After some back and forth her telling me I don't know what I'm looking at in my bank account as to be true, she finally gets the manager as I'd requested. When he comes out ( at this point I'd talked to my bank, yet they could not start a dispute yet because the transactions were still in processing) he's telling me that sometimes resturants do that. Never in my day have I paid twice for a service i was receiving once. I finally tell him I'd like to cancel the order. Which he does, he refunded one of the transactions. I was told the other one would automatically reverse in a few days once it settled on their end. I should have known it was fishy. To sum up the story I was NEVER fully refunded. I feel robbed. I visited Fixins Soul Kitchen six months ago, and the experience still lingers as one of the best dining moments I've had. The restaurant exudes a warm, welcoming atmosphere that instantly made me feel at home. The menu offers an incredible selection of classic soul food dishes, and everything I tried was nothing short of delicious. The fried chicken was crispy and perfectly seasoned, and the mac and cheese was creamy and rich—just like homemade! The staff was friendly and attentive, ensuring that our dining experience was exceptional from start to finish. I highly recommend Fixins Soul Kitchen to anyone looking to enjoy hearty, flavorful meals. I can't wait to return and indulge in more of their mouthwatering offerings!
