We are on a quest to find the best culinary experience in all of Australia, and on this particular evening, that odyssey led us into the concealed chambers of Flame, a venue so architecturally refined that its existence inside an RSL feels almost absurd. Hidden behind confusing corridors and understated signage, the restaurant eventually reveals itself through a mesmerising blue flame above cascading water and an atmosphere of darkened elegance. Internally, Flame is a triumph of ambience. Crimson brown lamps, charcoal inspired textures, ember toned carpeting, and an open kitchen collectively create the sensation of dining within a sophisticated furnace. Every detail appears deliberate, from the polished serving rails to the intricately sculpted cutlery. The service was polished and highly professional. Staff demonstrated precision, attentiveness, and admirable situational awareness. A particularly memorable moment involved a waitress courteously delaying the pouring of wine until conversation had concluded. A subtle yet deeply refined gesture. Staff likewise respected our party’s internal discussion without unnecessary interruption. That said, intervals between courses were undeniably lengthy, at times approaching thirty minutes, which may test less patient diners. Whilst attentiveness was appreciated, repeated interruptions mid meal occasionally bordered upon excessive. The cuisine oscillated between brilliance and disappointment. The monkfish skewer was extraordinary. Moist, delicate, and luxuriously soft, the fish dissolved with near buttery elegance whilst the chorizo amplified its sweetness magnificently. The venison achieved culinary excellence. Encased within flaky pastry and accompanied by a profound juniper berry jus, the meat reached a rare equilibrium between tenderness and richness. It was unquestionably the pinnacle of the evening. The pate displayed sophistication and refinement, whilst the creme brulee and smoked chocolate dessert possessed admirable texture, though the latter leaned more heavily toward coffee than smoked chocolate. The greatest revelation arrived through something deceptively humble the crispy French fries. Fried to an astonishing level of crispness and accompanied by an addictive vinegar infused mayonnaise, they constituted one of the most pleasurable potato experiences imaginable. Regrettably, the steak failed to embody the restaurant’s very identity. Despite competent cooking, it lacked succulence, assertive flavor, and genuine flame kissed character. The peppercorn crust provided little authority, whilst the bearnaise sauce ultimately became the sole component rescuing the dish from mediocrity. For a venue named “Flame,” this represented a palpable disappointment. Flame possesses immense promise. Its ambience is magnificent, its service polished, and several dishes approach exceptional culinary heights. Yet inconsistency within certain marquee offerings prevents it from fully igniting into greatness. For now, Flame remains not entirely aflame, but elegantly smouldering. Price per person: A$80–100 Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4 Vegetarian options: Whilst the menu at Flame did indeed provide vegetarian alternatives, patrons should remain mindful that this establishment fundamentally markets itself upon the theatrics and gravitas of flame cooked cuisine. Consequently, unless one’s aspiration is principally centred upon grilled vegetables and accompanying sides, prudence would dictate a careful examination of the menu beforehand to ensure the offering accords with one’s culinary proclivities. Dietary restrictions: Throughout our dealings with Flame, the attentiveness toward dietary considerations was both conspicuous and reassuring. The staff displayed a commendable vigilance regarding ingredients, preferences, and meal accommodations, thereby leaving us wholly persuaded that any genuine dietary requirement, intolerance, or culinary restriction would be received with due seriousness, professionalism, and appropriate accommodation.

It is a great pity . Service and ambience very good but the food was well below average. We had been here four times but each time was worse than the previous one . Last two times we had to request to change the food . Scallops dish was ok and apparently won a competition before. Chicken , prawns , scampi were too salty. Seemed the main chef had the tendency to put more salt . Spaghetti was too dry . Venison was bad . Despite it was medium to rare , it was tough plus the taste was unusual venison taste . That clearly reflected the meat had been siting in the fridge for quite a good while. This is indeed a big pity as the restaurant itself has a lot of potential but ruined by the poor quality of food . I gave one star overall as deep in my heart , I do want this restaurant to improve hopefully after knowing these negative feedbacks . Price per person: A$80–100 Food: 1 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4
