Online order, so order ahead. I ordered when I got there and it took 15-20 minutes. I went next door and got a wine flight, so there is stuff to do while you wait. The cod was good. Well cooked and lots of crisp on the one side. The fish tasted fresh. Chips (fries) were good but nothing to rave about. The peas were just regular peas and I was surprised they weren't mushy. They were good and nice to see a vegetable in an otherwise fried dish. Meal type: Lunch

Very disappointed but flavor was good. Waited almost 2 hours to finally get our plates at closing time. First arrived and we were told to wait 30 minutes bc she needed to restart everything as she had been busy all day. Come bk 40 minutes later and was told she’s not taking anymore orders. I was like wait, you didn’t say that when we arrived so she agreed to take our order. She said she was out of onion rings. I felt bad bc she looked exhausted but we waited to try this bc of TikTok. You could tell the grease was old grease, food wasn’t crispy but flavor was good. I would suggest not coming on a Saturday

My daughter and I went to For Cod’s Sake yesterday for lunch, ordering multiple items to try. All of the food came out in a very reasonable amount of time and we ate at some of the tables in a space that’s part of The Yard Ultimate as well. As other people have commented, the Fish and Chips are absolutely amazing. We got the half order and it was still big enough to share (especially if you want to try more than one dish.) The piece of cod is huge the batter light and crispy with a fish cooked evenly inside. The chips are thick and crispy fluffy on the inside and totally addictive. I live in North Austin, so it was a trek to get here and this is definitely a meal worth crossing the river for. The fish tacos contain the same cod and it’s wonderful batter but in smaller pieces and the mango pico makes it seems lighter. This is a great summer dish. The spice bag was something new for me with the spiced chicken strips and chips tossed in a curry dry rub and serve served with grilled onions and peppers and a side of their signature curry sauce. The chicken and potatoes have a bit of heat to them somewhat to my surprise dunking it in the curry sauce, actually reduced the heat a little bit and tripled the flavor. Whether eaten on their own or dipped in the curry sauce, all of this was amazingly flavorful. I also tried the battered sausage meal. Didn’t really have an expectation for this. I just wanted to try it because it wasn’t a dish I’d heard of before and I must say that the brown gravy makes the dish. Admittedly, the battered sausage is heavier than the battered fish just by the nature of the sausage, but the brown gravy is delicious and adds more flavor to a Standard British sausage. (Not saying British sausage isn’t good, but it’s not seasoned the same way as sausage in Texas.) I said it before and I’ll say it again, For Cod’s Sake is worth crossing the river for. And if you live in South Austin, it is most definitely worth the drive. And there’s plenty of seating and other things to explore at The Yard.
