Delicious, delicious, delicious. Every single time. Definitely a hole in the wall spot, I’d say, but their prices and large portion sizes truly can’t be beat. And again, the food is sooo damn good. I’m not one to boast about restaurants because usually they’re inconsistent (good sometimes, bad others) or just a hit or miss. But 40th St Restaurant? They get it right every time. Cuban sandwiches? Delicious (and GENUINELY delicious because a lot places fall short with their Cubans). Beef empanadas? Delicious. Baked chicken and rice? Delicious. Everything is delicious. The only thing I’d say I didn’t really care for was the mangu. It wasn’t bad (like the price and flavor were fine), it was just on the mushier side and not the texture I prefer. But some people like that, so hey. No docked stars from me. If you’re looking this place up and trying to decide if you should eat or order from here (trust me I did the same thing) PLEASE do yourself the favor and at least try it out. Even if it’s just once. Highly doubt you’ll be disappointed.
