Arrived around 11:00 for the 11:30 opening and was second in line. On a weekday, there were about four groups waiting at opening — it seems weekends get considerably busier, but early weekday visits are the sweet spot. By the time we left, a few cars were already waiting outside. The interior is spacious, yet each seating area is set with such generous spacing that only five to six groups can be accommodated at once. If you want to make the first seating, that capacity is a good reference point. What I had Fukase Donburi ¥1,500 Yakitori Set Meal ¥2,420 Sunazuri (gizzard) ¥930 Grilled Vegetable Assortment ¥660 The chicken can be ordered with either salt or tare. The fukase donburi isn’t always available, but when it is, regulars order it without hesitation. A fluffy oyakodon with broth seasoned to absolute perfection — simple, comforting, and deeply satisfying. The chicken is grilled over an irori hearth, and the freshness is immediately apparent. Firm texture, clean flavors, and a surge of umami with every bite. Salt lets the pure quality of the chicken shine, while the tare has an addictive richness that pairs impeccably with rice. Both styles have their own charm — impossible to choose a favorite. Despite being deep in the mountains with less-than-convenient access, the atmosphere, flavor, and overall experience make it well worth the trip.
