Wow. In all my years of travel and eating literally everywhere, I’ve never tasted anything quite like this. I never would have thought I would be using the term “complex flavor profiles” in a little cafe in the middle of nowhere in Yorkshire, England. Yet here I am, marveling at the meal I just ate, and wondering how this guy came up with fried chicken and waffles, Indian style. Who would have dared to combine garam masala, pickles and pancakes? Fried chicken with Bombay potatoes, with a runny fried egg on top? And then when you put these flavors together, the sensory explosion is absolutely, sublimely ORIGINAL. This is a destination meal. This is worth going out of your way for. I mean it. The “Naughty Bird” is what I had and if I lived any closer than 5600 miles away in Los Angeles USA I’d return again and again, although, like a beautiful mandala, I was told the menu changes regularly! Well done, Gem Cafe! Or as they say to the sheep dogs here, “That’ll do! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Order type: Dine in Meal type: Lunch Price per person: £20–30
