Do not order the sourdough bread. Asked for more butter and was told no.” It’s proportioned to avoid waste”. Well I can say a 16 dollar appetizer got wasted over butter.. never again. Hotel was clean, no issues there but can’t say I’d ever go back and all because they can’t offer more butter. Sad I appreciate the clarification. It’s comforting to know the butter wasn’t being rationed to prevent waste—it was being carefully portioned as part of the culinary experience. Unfortunately, the culinary experience ended with a $16 appetizer going in the trash. I’m also glad to learn that plain butter could have been offered. That’s a particularly helpful detail to discover after I was told no. At the end of the day, I wasn’t asking for the secret family recipe or an extra boule—just a little more butter. Somehow, that became the hill the restaurant chose to die on. The hotel was clean, quiet, and otherwise perfectly fine. But when a simple request for butter turns into a lesson in portion control, explanations about specialty butter, and ultimately a wasted appetizer, it’s probably safe to say you’ve lost a customer over something that costs about 20 cents. Cole, I hear your disappointment, and I’m sorry this left you frustrated. I would, however, like to clarify one detail. The butter served with our bread board is not standard table butter. It is a recipe we prepare in-house with roasted garlic and fresh herbs, and we batch it specifically to be paired with each sourdough boule. That is why we don’t typically have additional portions of the prepared butter available—it is not because we are concerned about wasting butter. While the 1/4-cup portion is almost always plenty for this appetizer, we certainly could have offered you additional plain butter when you requested more. I’m sorry that option wasn’t provided to you. Our intention was never to be unaccommodating, and I appreciate the opportunity to clarify what makes this particular butter part of the bread board itself.

A Soul-Restoring Getaway That Exceeded Every Expectation We drove nearly six hours for the Memorial Day Weekend Suite Package and every mile was worth it. We arrived about four hours late for check-in and the team, shoutout to Rachel, Brianna, and the entire hospitality crew, waited for us and greeted us with genuine warmth and bright smiles. That set the tone for everything. Our Fireside King Suite with the hot tub was warm, romantic, and immaculate. We checked all the usual spots, the closet, under the bed, the mattress, spotless every time. The staff had staged our roses and champagne as a beautiful focal point in the room. Pure intention. The Coffee Delivery with Keepsake Mugs was a perfect morning touch. The grounds and scenery were exactly the reset we needed, quiet, breathtaking, and deeply peaceful. It rained most of the weekend and honestly it only made things better. The smells, the sounds of the forest, the mist through the trees, absolutely cinematic. The restaurant was a standout on its own. The food was exceptional and the staffs knowledge of the wines and beers was genuinely impressive, passionate and not scripted. The atmosphere was warm, cozy, and the kind of place you never want to leave. This place was curated to help people heal and fall back in love and it absolutely did that for us. We are making this our yearly ritual. Thank you Gateway Lodge for an unforgettable weekend. Service: 5
