Good Chef is amazing, it's the first place I've orderd from in years where the prawn toast actually looks and tastes like prawn and everything else has been great quality too without corners being cut and having tried a few places since I moved to the area I only ever order from here now. Price per person: £10–20 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Vegetarian offerings: Vegetarian menu or section Vegetarian options: Excellent value for adding on things like beansprouts and quite a few options like spicy aubergine and other things.

I had a really great experience at Good Chef Chinese Restaurant, and I honestly can’t stop thinking about the black bean chicken. From the moment the food arrived at the table, everything looked and smelled fresh and comforting exactly what you hope for when you’re craving good Chinese food. The black bean chicken was the clear standout. The chicken was cooked perfectly tender, juicy, and not overdone, which can be surprisingly hard to find. Every bite had that satisfying “just right” texture, and it held up beautifully with the sauce instead of getting soggy or dry. The black bean sauce itself was the best part rich, savory, and full of deep flavor without being overly salty. You could taste that classic fermented black bean punch, balanced with garlic and a slight sweetness that made the whole dish feel layered and well seasoned. It wasn’t just “saucy chicken,” it was the kind of dish you can tell was made with care. The vegetables mixed in were also a nice touch. They were crisp and bright, not limp, and they added freshness and crunch to balance the richness of the sauce. Everything tasted like it was cooked to order, and the portion size was generous enough to feel like you’re getting your money’s worth and still have leftovers if you’re lucky. What I appreciated most is that the dish felt comforting but still flavorful and well put together. It’s the kind of meal that makes you want to come back and order the same thing again because it hits all the right notes: bold flavor, good texture, and a satisfying portion. Overall, Good Chef Chinese Restaurant absolutely delivered. If you’re debating what to order, I’d strongly recommend the black bean chicken it’s hearty, flavorful, and easily one of the best versions of the dish I’ve had in a long time.
