Thank you for taking the time to share such detailed feedback. I’m very sorry to hear that your experience at Grant’s fell so far short of what you were expecting, particularly after choosing us based on recommendations from local residents and our reviews. I’m especially disappointed to hear about the ribeye. We personally butcher and portion our steaks in-house, so I’m sorry that the cut you received was lackluster and did not meet the standard we expect. While I understand that having a steak arrive whole may be what you are accustomed to, slicing the steak prior to serving is an intentional choice in our kitchen. It allows each portion to be sliced cleanly against the grain for maximum tenderness and provides a presentation that allows our guests to see the consistency of the cook throughout the steak. It is not intended to diminish the quality or presentation of the cut. I’m also sorry that the poke bowl did not deliver the flavor or preparation you were expecting. Your comments regarding the rice, seasoning, sauces, and overall presentation are helpful, and I will be sharing them directly with our culinary team. I do want to clarify that Grant’s is intended to offer an elevated, chef driven dining experience, but we are not a traditional fine dining restaurant, and we do differ from some of the conventions you may have experienced at higher end establishments. Our goal is to offer high-quality, thoughtfully prepared food in a relaxed and approachable atmosphere which is generally enjoyed by both our local guests and travelers visiting Stowe. That more casual approach is intentional and is part of what has made Grant’s a well loved gathering place. That said, regardless of the style of service or presentation, the food itself should absolutely justify the price. Based on your experience, we clearly missed that mark, and I’m sorry we did. I truly appreciate that you recognized the service you received and left your server a generous tip despite your disappointment with the meal. I’m glad they took good care of you, but I’m sorry that the overall experience did not live up to the expectations created by our menu and reputation.
