I'm not one to leave bad reviews, but this is my "friendly neighborhood bar" that I frequent after work daily, so feel directly impacted. Both as a customer, and a fellow comrade of the bar business. Long story short, last call is now being called at 1 a.m. verses 1:45 a.m. That takes almost an hour off of my night to catch up with friends when I already am getting off work after midnight. This applies to a lot of us customers because it is a heavy in-the-biz crowd. Apparently, this week they were fined $5000 for having closed-out customers in the bar at 2:05 a.m. finishing their drinks. (I think fines like that are thievery and a product of lawsuits and corporate America but that's for another post another day.) ANYWAY I totally get Harpers want/need to not be fined. Fair enough. But to demand that the petite female bartenders must insure that all the customers (no matter how large, masculine, drunk, or rowdy) are out in time, OR ELSE LOSE THEIR JOB is so despicable, selfish, and WILL backfire on you, Harpers. Why? Because you're losing an hour worth of devoted, loyal customers now that the bartenders have to call last call an hour early to insure their jobs... WHEN you could and SHOULD hire a security staff to do this physical job for them with a volume as high as it is near close. You might think you're losing money on hiring security, but you're really losing money on unsatisfied customers. Get your shit together, and stop playing God over your employees. They're all fantastic, and make your bar what it is.
