Good coffee and nice atmosphere. Lots of expensive souvenirs but no harm in looking I suppose. Price per person: £1–10

Left the Tweed Valley railway path and headed into Innerleithen for the bus back to Peebles. The bus stop was directly outside Haus & Co so I went in and ordered a takeaway Americano. Was a bit disconcerted by the price (£3.20), especially as the tiny paper cup was of a size more associated with espresso than Americano. Still, I thought, at that price the coffee must be real quality and I paid cash (as I always try to do with small/local businesses).
Big letdown. Horrible taste, weak and bland and nothing like coffee. After a few sips I returned it. Owner (??) offered a refill but why would I want more of the same? Had I not been anxious not to miss my bus I would have stood my ground for a refund - which he should willingly have provided but, surprise, surprise, did not.
