We had a very incredible experience and the hospitality was absolutely amazing. We stopped at a vineyard prior to this one and wanted to taste wine and have lunch, but they did not serve food so we ended up here. When we pulled up, it didn’t look like anybody was there and so we walked up and the gentleman in the photos with the dirty pants greeted us and said that if we wanted lunch, we had to have a reservation and we said that we did not have a reservation and he said that he had a reservation for a peka but the people did not show up nor did they cancel their reservation and ask us if we would want to have their lunch since it takes about three hours to cook. It was almost done. We said sure and he said is it OK if it is lamb and veal with potatoes, onions, and carrots and other vegetables. We said absolutely that works for us. So he came out with a white wine shot of fig brandy, a charcuterie, board and fresh baked bread. As we started our meal, we saw the woman from Washington DC sitting by herself and tasting several wines and struck up a conversation. That’s when we learned where she was from and that she was actually Russian but living in the United States. As we continue to demolish the charcuterie board, our meal came out, and I overheard her talking to her driver saying that it smelled good and she wish she would’ve had some. at that point we called her over and asked her if she would like to join us for lunch and we shared the peka with her. We had a great conversation and made a friend. The host said that he was not planning on having anyone that day other than the reservation for two and that’s why his pants were dirty because it was planting day. All of the food is grown on the farm and the meat and fish is all locally procured. He must’ve apologized 100 times and we kept telling him that we did not mind how he looked and that the food, the wine and the fig brandy was all fantastic. His name was Kris and he asked me if I would give him a review on Google and I would say it was one of the best experiences for falling into something my brother and I had ever experienced. After our lunch, we took a tour of the farm and walked out in the field and met the farm dog called Blackie. We said our goodbyes and that other people on our journey and highly recommended that they go to this winery. As we were talking with the two ladies from London, they made a reservation for the following day. I still haven’t heard how that went but if it was anything like our day, it would’ve been fantastic. Price per person: €45–50 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
