The little square of Marzamemi is wonderful otherwise, the food is poor... the preparation of the staff is even worse... the bill is high. Worse than that!

The location was nice but otherwise nothing like the price we paid. we waited 1 hour. The ricci e capricci pasta arrived cold and with the essence of sea urchins and a paltry quantity for €26. Normal paccheri are hard and have little seasoning. The Couscous looked like a brick and the fish was cold and the broth was the same. Cold pasta with sardines. The coca cola requested 4 times never arrived. The bill was €99 for having eaten so badly. Service: Dine in Meal type: Lunch Price per person: €20–30 Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 2

If the flies and the service don’t get you, the price will. We tried this place for lunch having been recommended Marzamemi for a day trip. Honestly, the town hasn’t got not much to recommend it - a nice central square but everything else is run down and depressing. There are also flies. EVERYWHERE. As the town has little else to offer, everyone wants you to pay through the nose anywhere near the town square too. We settled for lunch at il Principino and sat on the terrace facing the fishing boats. A charming scene - if you are not swamped by flies. They are on everything all the time - highlighting the slow service as we waited 50 minutes for the first course - and that a simple mozzarella salad clearly taking 2 minutes to prepare. The staff had obviously forgotten us as our pasta took a further 40 minutes. No apology - and nothing special about the food. Despite this, the bill was a quite ridiculous €50 for one salad starter, a bottle of still water a sardine pasta and some (tiny) friend fish. I hadn’t felt ripped off once in Sicily before. Now I understand the stories. We left angry, frustrated and cheated.
