Neighborhood family owned soba restaurant - they make the soba with matcha - very serene atmosphere. The family are super sweet Price per person: ¥3,000–4,000

Cha Soba has been around for years and continues to serve a variety of tasty dishes. Don’t like soba? No problem. They also have a variety of rice based dishes. The location is a bit off the beaten track, but it’s not hard to get to from Meidaimae Station or Shin Daita Station. Patrons are primarily locals so I guess it has not yet been discovered by the tourist crowd. From the restaurant it takes about 20 minutes to walk to Shimo Kitazawa. Do that to have a good choice of places for coffee and dessert. Or stop by Hanegi Park. We were too late for the plum blossoms, except for a couple of trees hanging in there, and plumb blossoms petals along the paths. Price per person: ¥1,000–2,000 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
