With the inflation we have experienced the last couple of years as well as the MD state mandated 13.5% increase in wages, we have to raise prices or go out of business. No other business sells unportioned products and some ice cream shops have started selling by weight. We have chosen to not do so but are making a concerted effort to be consistent in what we serve. Weighing is one way to do that. I would prefer if it got done every time but I am not naive enough to think that if does when I am not around. Since you are familiar with us you know we are homemade, use quality ingredients and local items where possible. There is just no way to do all of this cheaply. I am sorry if the explanation you received was not articulated well. Please keep in mind these are young people, many at their first or second job, who may not even themselves understand the financial pressures small, local business owners face. I hope you chose to come back but if not I understand. We will, as we have for the last 50 years, continue to strive to serve quality products, provide friendly customer service and make people happy.More
