This restaurant has apparently closed down. No signage in windows and phone number goes to a voicemail that has no information on status of restaurant. Must be closed...... it would have been nice to have known this before I drove 15 minutes to get there. Waste of a good part of my Saturday night

Their bento is 10/10, it was so clean and it's totally worth it for lunch. I would highly recommend!

I don't know if I have ever been in a sushi bar with the ambiance of Izumi Hatake. Most of the art on the walls is impressionist, still life. There are a few reproduction wood block and traditional prints on the wall, but from the moment you enter there is a definite unique vibe to the place. I've only been here once. I ordered a Bonzai (Bonsai? Banzai?) Roll and a house salad. The salad was nondescript - traditional iceberg lettuce with carrot shavings and a dollop of creamy ginger dressing. Nothing special, nothing wrong. But the roll? My god. Eel, octopus, tuna and avocado with a healthy bit of seaweed. It was without a doubt the most hearty roll I have ever had. Incredibly filling. And delicious! I left feeling satisfied in terms of both taste and amount. Well worth every penny. Don't come here expecting some sort of cheesy reproduction of Japan, or at least what you think Japan is like. Come in here expecting a sushi place crammed into a corner in downtown Springfield that makes the most of what it has. The heat from the open kitchen may be stifling, yes. But the show put on by the checs as they prepare the meals is well worth a couple of degrees in temperature.
