Belle, my wife, and I found in J Hotel a level of satisfaction that is more than what we expect from a budget hotel. Foremost, the room we took affords enough space for the bed for two, a wardrobe Cabinet, a simple bedside table, a chair, a tiny service table with a tray of drinking glasses, an electric pot, a TV set, Wi-Fi connection, an aircon unit that works and most importantly a clean rest room with all fixtures in running condition, including the shower heater. Lest I forget, the room comes with a set of toiletries, a pillow and a piece of towel for each occupant. On the downside, the reception room is found in the second floor and the guest rooms in the third floor that are accessible through a flight of stairs winding through a narrow passageway. There is only one small blanket for a couple. We had a hard time finding the TV channels that for us is not enough to fuss about just like the other shortcomings just mentioned. The intangibles that go well for this small hotel include the accommodating staff (they know the ways around the city), its vicinity to the public market, some fast food chain and the plaza that are all in walking distance. Moreover, one can hail a tricycle (P20.00 fare for a ride within the city) with hardly any waiting time. Service: 5

Room was reasonably clean, stained bed sheets and towels though, kettle no coffee or tea, no hot water pressure, very noisy AC. Lounge is actually the reception desk not a place to relax, Cafe says 8am but staff advised they decided 10am so no breakfast or coffee available. 1st day they opened for us as we were after coffee and lunch and we were advised no food available? No transfer available to Caticlan though they offered to help get us to the bus depot. Owner needs to update the advertising to match what they actually have available. Overall very disappointing stay after a month travelling in the Philippines. Service: 3
