$30.00 for a lobster roll and side. You saying to yourself wow but you pay that at red lobster. 5oz plus meat and side and drink. Food was on point. It puts Dan's lobster roll to shame. It's enough food to split for two. Lemon, parm fries were awesome.

Good Jewish boys are not supposed to like lobster but there are exceptions to every rule, and when it comes to lobster, I am one of them!. My love for lobster dates back to when I was a young man in the Bronx and when Mom had saved up enough money, we would all pile into the car and head off to City Island, an oceanfront community in the Bronx. Wonderful memories of Mom taking us out to eat with an eye-opening experience eating lobster. The arrival of that imposing shellfish, cracking open the claws, dipping it in the melted butter and everything melting in your mouth. Yum, yum! I especially remember when I got accepted into the SP class in junior high school which means you jumped from the 7th grade to the 9th grade. This was quite an honor, and Mom rewarded me by taking me to City Island to the Lobster Box and for the first time I had my own whole lobster. Wow! Other delicious memories of a whole lobster in Ogunquit Maine when I was dating a girl in a production of Kismet at the Ogunquit Playhouse, and having my first lobster roll with the kids and Mom on a cruise to Maine a few years ago. I also have a funny memory of my ex-wife Susan and I in our early years of marriage deciding that we were going to cook our own lobster at home in Rutherford, New Jersey. Everything went fine for us until it was time to put the lobster into the big stock pot of boiling water Susan and I were so freaked out by the live lobster that we must have dropped it half a dozen times on the floor and then did the delicate dance of trying to pick it up without our fingers being snapped off by those imposing claws. I don't think I could ever do that again, because I remember when we finally dropped the lobster into the water and we heard a cry it was just too heartbreaking for me and Susan. I'll stick to arriving at a restaurant with all the work done So, when the kids and I were vacationing down at the beach recently on Oak Island, and they had heard about a lobster place called Joe Loves Lobster Rolls in Southport, it sounded like something we all needed to check out. When you first pull up to the place, there's nothing all that special about it. Just a small storefront in a strip mall. When you go inside there is nothing that unusual about the place. Cute storefront restaurant with a few tables and a black board with a few offerings. It had one strike against it already in that there was not the ability to get refills on your drinks which my kids know does not make Papa happy. But then the meal came and it absolutely blew me away. Everything was so scrumptious and fresh and plentiful and delicious and although a bit pricey, definitely worth the money for the quality of the food you are getting. The lobster roll was huge and overflowing with lobster meat. Every side we tried was delicious. They have all kinds of lobster offerings from deviled eggs to bisque to lobster grilled cheese and on and on. I tried the traditional lobster roll and German potato salad as my side.. We also ordered lobster macaroni and cheese. Not to be believed! God, that was delicious!!! I noticed some other interesting foods like bison, but how could you not order a lobster roll at a place called Joe Loves Lobster Rolls! Lol We all left with a full stomach and an incredible taste in our mouth. I'm usually pretty hard on places that are expensive and don't offer refills on your drinks, but this place is definitely a 5 across the board. It's one of those hidden gems that many people do not know about yet, but even while we were there, we noticed several loyal customers and newbies stopping by. I did not get a chance to talk personally to the owner, but it was obvious he loved his restaurant, his offerings and his customers. He graciously went from table to table checking in on everybody and worked very hard as well. He should be proud; the place was awesome. I would highly highly recommend if you are in the Oak Island Southport area that you try Joe Loves Lobster Rolls. Delicious and worth every penny!! After that meal I took a nap on my screened-in back porch with lobsters dancing around in my head. I will be back! See you there!!!
