I am here for a business trip, after over 16 hours of travel from the UK, I decided to find an izakaya for my first night. This place satisfied me with great sashimi and the drinks. I added more order at least three times and everything is good, at least for me—solo travel here. I truly appreciate that:) Price per person: ¥6,000–7,000 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

I recently visited kamui three days in a row when I was in Kyoto. I really had incredible dinning expirence at Kamui. Food and drinks were amazing, the staff there really make me feel right at home. The menu offered a wide variety of small dishes and drinks. The sashimi was so fresh and beautifully presented. I tried raw horse meat and it was unique and surprisingly delicious. The tempura I had was absolute treat, the prawns were crunchy outside while preserving the natural flavors, you will enjoy it with the secret sause made by Chef Nishida. One of the highlights was the drink selection, an extensive list of sake and Japanese beer to complement the food. If you want to try a different types of sake or you are not sure what you really want, leave it with Chef Nishida. You will not be disappointed. If you’re looking for a cozy spot to enjoy Japanese food and a great selection of sake. Kamui is a place you do not want to miss.
