One of the great katsu’s in the Perth CBD. I walked in for a “quick lunch” and walked out 40 minutes later having had what can only be described as a spiritual experience with a piece of chicken. The crumb had more crunch than my last performance review. Portion size was aggressive! The lady at the counter remembers my order, which is either a heartwarming display of customer service or a gentle intervention I’m choosing to ignore. Would I recommend it? I have recommended it. Repeatedly. Unprompted. At parties. To strangers. I once described the panko texture to a Uber driver who did not ask. Five stars. Ten if they’d let me. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Would be an awesome place if it wasn't closed 90% of the time. Used to go here regularly, but I'm now completely fed up with the number of times it's closed by 12:30 on a weekday. Food: 4 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 2

Shafto Lane always has some yummy eats and the chicken karaage and takoyaki certainly hit the spot at Kyo Japanese. Crunchy chicken, corn, rice, nori in one bowl and tender octopus surrounded by a soft batter that just melts in your mouth.
