We were seated outside and it was so beautiful. The food was really good and the service was fantastic. We had a very nice time. The only thing I thought was odd was that they don't accept reservations. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Price per person: $50–60 Parking space: Plenty of parking Parking options: Free of charge parking lot

Fine Dining prices for blase food and lousy service. Dining at Lago for the first time I looked forward to a higher-end experience compared to other Common Man restaurants, but in most ways it was disappointing to say the least. While Lago does not take reservations, we expected that we would be ok arriving early (around 5:30) on a Wednesday in mid-August. The large parking lot (used by Inn as well as restaurant patrons) was already packed, and we were told there was a one hour wait for two people -- which to their credit turned out to be accurate. To pass the time we ordered two Manhattans (expertly mixed by a very attentive and efficient bar tender who seemed completely unfazed despite working non-stop at warp speed), which we enjoyed on the porch with their unexceptional but free cheese and crackers. I guess the no-reservation policy is supposed to be more democratic, but just seems to create chaos; and it resulted in our very frazzled table server being short changed because our bill did not include the drinks and appetizer we likely would have ordered otherwise ordered at the table. We were happy to get a window seat with a lake view in the beautiful, albeit cavernous and noisy, dining room. After another full hour waiting for our food to arrive, we asked the server about it -- after which it arrived within minutes, undoubtedly having been sitting under a heat lamp the whole time. My girlfriend liked her flank steak special, but my short ribs were pretty tasteless and tough as leather, and accompanied by huge, undercooked and equally tasteless whole carrots. At least the sauce was tasty. I hope for Lago's sake this was an unusual situation, but from our experience I definitely do not recommend.
