I realize that there are countless (literally, countless) number of desserts and sweet treats available from all around the world. This means the choices are endless and picking a favorite should be difficult. But I DO have a favorite. A simple, almond flour, gluten free, tiny little cookie: the macaron. French or Italian, I love either version of the perfect, dainty meringue cookie. It is visually a work of art and a symphony on the taste buds. Covid-19 has restricted our attendance and consumption of the things we love but this darn virus can't stop me from wanting macarons! Hence, the reason La Creme Cafe came into the picture. Mission Macarons is a difficult one during the end of the world but the small cafe, La Creme Cafe is open for pickup and delivery (through grub hub, postmates, etc). La Creme Cafe is located on Melrose in between La Brea and Fairfax: trust me, you've driven past it a million times. Now, I can't vouch for La Creme's drinks, crepes, salads or sandwiches as this review is solely for the Goddess Macaron. La Creme Cafe obviously basis their prices off their real estate location because this place is costly on the wallet. One macaron is $3.50 which is way above the going rate for macarons around LA. One dozen (you pick the flavors) is listed at $26.00. Holy moly! But we wanted a treat, virus be damned! We deserved it. For our order, we went with (2) Green Tea macarons, (2) Raspberry, (2) Rose (2) Pistachio (2) Rainbow (2) Strawberry. La Creme Cafe gets credit where credit is due: the delivery was rather quick and the macarons were chilled upon arrival which means they were frozen. This is a good thing, as it is fresher than grabbing them from behind the counter (macarons last in a air-tight container in the fridge for 3 days and up on 6-8 weeks in the freezer. Simply thaw about 20 minutes!). The first strike was La Creme Cafe got our order incorrect. Either they got it incorrect or they were out of Strawberry but they replaced the Strawberry with a black macaron that I assume is Oreo. It is safe to assume this; as the black macaron shell was literally around an Oreo cookie and had crushed Oreo crumbs around the edge. With the world ending and a virus causing our entire lives to be turned upside down; I'm not mad at La Creme Cafe for this and am letting that slide. That is NOT the background for the 2-star review. What is the reasoning? The taste. As, I've said: I am a macaron connoisseur and I KNOW proper macarons. These were terrible.  They were beautiful externally in terms of colors, gold leaf and paint swipes, etc. However, the sizing was inconsistent as were the texture of the cookies which fell apart upon biting. The fillings were cheap and not of quality and tasted so bad, I spit them out. The Rose, Rainbow, and Green Tea were SO artificial-tasting that they were merely not edible. The Rose was like eating an overly flowery Plug-in and the Rainbow is best compared to cotton candy-flavored children's cough syrup. The Raspberry was the only hit with a raspberry preserve/curd dollop on top of the cream filling.  I literally threw the rest out. I'm not exaggerating, folks. Everything about these macarons are terrible: quality, overly sweet, artificial, etc. My macaron-obsessed heart is utterly broken. La Creme Cafe is a complete macaron fail. Again the rating is for the quality and flavor of the macarons which I'm sure are this way regardless of coronavirus. $26.00 plus delivery down the drain. At least I supported a small business but if you are seeking macarons... avoid La Creme Cafe.

Hello Orsolya,
I am really sorry that you had a bad experience with our macaroons.
Apology!
My guess about the bad taste is that in the beginning of COVID-19 outbreak all our sells suddenly dropped down and perhaps we got overstocked with macaroons we couldn't sell as fast as before.
Most likely our employees were selling the macaroons without tasting them first.
One more time: I am sorry.

Right now all our sales picked up, we have a bigger turnover and we have again fresh macaroons.

Btw....
I don't know how you got the idea that a macaroon at La Creme Cafe costs $ 3.50.(?!)
If you ordered a dozen(12), the total won't be $25, but...$ 42.00. The math doesn't end up correctly.

Our Macaroons are Hand Made, Gluten Free and each of them cost: $2.50;
Half a dozen(6) is: $13.30;
A dozen(12): $25,

We NEVER freeze our macaroons. Just keep them in a refrigerator.

One more time: We are sorry for your negative experience.

If you decide to give us another try we will do our best to make you happy with our macaroons.

Thank you for understanding.

Best regards,
