I really love La Place. It's a really lovely, cool and sophisticated yet casual place. The decor is stylish and hip and romantic, yet everyone, staff included is wearing denim (possibly with pearls and diamonds too, so you get the idea). Be warned, the menu is always limited to three or four starters and three main dishes, so don't go there if you like a huge number of choices. What they are doing is picking a few things that look good in the market and they really lean in to make some fantastic dishes. The mains last night were cod, chicken and a cepe risotto and my group hit all three. The cod was cooked perfectly on a bed of root vegetables--beautiful on the plate and tasted great. My risotto was incredible--I could eat that again tonight. And you'd think chicken would be the odd dish out, sorry, best chicken ever. Worth the side trip.
