CLOSED! Had the best Nam Khao in Seattle. Unfortunately they are now out of business.

This place is SO DELICIOUS. My boyfriend has been on the hunt for Laotian food in Seattle after visiting DC for the first time and trying it there, so we decided to pop in. We got some fish balls to start off, which were tasty and served with some really great pickled veggies. I got the vegetarian Coco Paneang Curry with sticky rice (you have to get the sticky rice--there isn't enough sticky rice in this world). The red curry was super flavorful and pleasantly spicy! My boyfriend got the Nam Khao, which the waitress told us was a traditional Loatian dish. It was amazing. It's under the salad list, but it was so much more than a salad. It was the total star of dinner. It was crunchy, soft, savory, salty, garlicky, spicy, and fresh all at the same time. The waitress said it was seasoned rice formed into a ball, fried, chopped up (so you get the crispy rice everywhere), mixed with more spices, and then scooped onto lettuce with fresh cilantro, basil, and some really tasty sauces. We also had the black sticky rice with mango for dessert, which was also excellent! Hot sticky rice, cool mango, with a little drizzle of sweetness on top. What a perfect ending to a delicious meal! The service was excellent, too. Our waitress seated is immediately on a Thursday night. She was friendly, quick to take our orders, and the food came out very quickly.  She really talked up the Nam Khao and it did not disappoint. At the end of the dinner, we asked what we should get next time, and she suggested any of the rotating specials. I love this little building of restaurants in Capitol Hill and I love that Lao Bar Restaurant is now a part of it. I will absolutely be back!
