I would give a half star if I could. We have had takeout sandwiches before in the middle of a golf round which were fine. Yesterday we came for lunch. I ordered a burger, hubby the French dip sandwich. Only by overhearing another table did we learn there was no au jus for the sandwich. There was only one waitstaff for the entire patio. He did the best he could, but after an hour wait hubby went inside, confirmed he couldn't get his order and made a different choice. fifteen minutes later I got my sandwich,very overdone, which I shared with him as we weren't sure when his would come out. His arrived with the manager who apologized but couldn't explain why the waiter wasn't told the kitchen was out of that particular choice. We waited another ten minutes for the check which did not appear and then learned that our lunch had been comped. Very disappointed with this lack of communication. We are owners at the resort and this is completely unlike what we have experienced here inthe past four years or so. Somebody needs to get it together quickly. Our order was the not one screwed up yesterday.

Food is fair at best and service is actually embarrassingly slow. Our waitress took our order and later delivered our food; that was the only time she spoke to us. We said thank you when she seated and brought our food and she didn't return with a "you're welcome". Even basic southern hospitality is expected! We will look elsewhere in the area or maybe try a different waitress next time.

Vacationing at the resort for a week, my wife called in an order one day to Legends Pub & Pizzeria for a medium White Pizza, menu price $16.95. The menu description was: Ricotta cheese mixed with olive oil. choice of 3 toppings / add toppings $1.95 ea She ordered 3 toppings. Imagine my surprise when I went to pick it up and was told the price was $24.34. I said I was expecting it to be around $17-$18 or so, and the person told me the toppings were $1.95 each. I pointed out that the menu says the price includes a choice of 3 toppings. She was confused so she went and got the manager. The manager said that the menu means that you can have a maximum of 3 toppings, because any more will ruin the pizza, and that ANY toppings cost $1.95 each. I asked if she was sure, mentioning that I've bought quite a few pizzas in my day and that "choice of X toppings" is standard wording for what is included in the menu price. No, she was quite certain about this. I paid with a credit card and took the pizza back to my wife. The next day my wife called the resort Food Service Manager and asked about the price of White Pizza at Legends. He confirmed the price for a medium with up to 3 toppings is $16.95, and that the staff, including the manager, at Legends was wrong. He said that a refund would be waiting for us after a certain time the following day. As we passed by the next day I went in for my refund. At least they were expecting me. The same woman who had overcharged me 2 days before pulled a dirty, wrinkled up zip-lock bag from a drawer and fished out a refund of greasy, wadded up bills that looked like they had been swept up from the floor the night before. What about a refund to my credit card? Nope, cash is what the manager left. They even shortchanged me on the refund, but it was less than $1 so I took it and left. There was no acknowledgment of the error, no apology for my inconvenience, no offer of a discount or free fountain drink if we'd like to give them another try, not even a goodbye. Just "Oh, I think she left some money here somewhere". Needless to say that we did not and will not go back. I would advise the same approach for others considering this sorry establishment. There are far too many good places to eat in the Lake Lure area. (Try the Old Rock Cafe in Chimney Rock!)
