What kind of tourists seek out Thai food in Galway, you ask? The kind who have been traveling around the world for 12 months and sorely miss Thai food. That's who. And you know what, we were pleasantly surprised here. Lime brings some solid Thai food game to Ireland. We wandered in off the street with no reservations, and they found us a spot at the bar to sidle up for drinks and food. Drinks: The cocktail program here is solid! Generally fruit-focused drinks, as should be expected to pair with spicy Thai fare, but not so gross/sweet as sometimes happens in this realm. Our bartender was friendly and worked with us (two folks who generally don't drink fruity cocktails) to find some solid middle-ground between sweet and boozy. Well done. Food: We ordered a few dishes and they were all pretty damn decent. Surprisingly good for this part of the world. Judged agains the norm back at home, I'd say they can stand on their own and this could be a place in my normal rotation. Major upside to having a really good selection of vegetarian options for the wife. That's always a solid bonus. Good food, good service, great location. An easy decision.

If pictures speak 1000 words, feast your eyes on these four pictures. I'll write a few words, anyway. My wife and colleague (Vietnamese from LA) sat at the bar since the place was full. Be sure to make reservations, especially on a Saturday night. The vegan friendly menu, deliciously crafted cocktails, and exquisitely prepared Asian fare with strong emphasis on fresh and local ingredients make this the perfect restaurant. Dishes are cooked as traditionally as possible while everything from the cocktails to the appetizers have their roots based in Asian techniques and flavors. Lime has the swank of New York City, the unassuming attitude of London, Asian diversity found in San Francisco, taste you'd expect of a restaurant in Singapore; perhaps most importantly....the affable Galway charisma. Pearse will wow you with his masterful bartender swagger as he mixes top notch cocktails and Conner the maitre d' (man of the house, manager) will charm you with his hospitable, classy demeanor. They make the atmosphere very fun and inviting in the front of the house meantime the Malaysian chef and Thai sous chef work their magic behind the scenes. You're reminded often that you and your sense are their priority. Make it a point to visit them. Vlad
