The place is nice inside. It appears to be run by three Mandarin-speaking Chinese gentlemen. The choice of food was big and varied. The restaurant claims to be Chinese - Thai food, but I also found Korean kimchi in cold dishes. It is dominated by Chinese dishes, mostly from northern China.
Don't get fooled by names like "chicken" or "duck". It's all fake meat, so beancurd skin, or other beancurs products with different textures and consistencies.
I can't tell exactly what I had, because I tried to sample as much as I could, and I don't remember all the names of dishes I had. I couldn't try everything, because even though I took a little bit of everything, the food is filling and sooner than usually I was feeling stuffed!
The food quality itself was mixed, but mostly average. There were a few things I liked, really liked, but some were just okay, no taste buds earthquake.
I liked the "duck" in black bean sauce, the rolls, and deep-fried... something. I liked kimchi, although it tasted a bit sour. I didn't like that much sweet & sour "pork" — it was more of carrot & carrot "pork". I don't really blame the chefs; I think it's more of lack of proper ingredients, or the price of proper, original ingredients. The restaurant isn't very expensive, so it must be reflected in something.
What I didn't like was lack of plates for change. It's a buffet. Every other buffet restaurant I've been to offered clean plates/bowls, so that when you finish your dish, your plate is taken away and you can put another helping on a clean plate. In Lo-Fu you have to use the same, and dishes are mixed with sauces and flavours of what you had earlier. Me no likey.
You get a fresh bowl, if you want the dessert. You can compose it yourself from fried banana, coconut tapioka and some other fruits.
Summarising, the food was average with a few great dishes and a few so-so. The place is clean and nice, but no plates for change. Some hot and cold drinks for additional charge. Take-away available and it seemed quite a popular option.
I didn't leave hungry, and for London restaurants that's a rare thing :)
I planned to go to this place for quite some time. A veggie buffer Asian food is a must-go for me.
