We enjoyed dinner at Locavore’s Winter Buffet, located at voco Kirkton Park Hunter Valley. For $89 pp, it’s an excellent all you can eat dining experience with plenty of variety. Open Monday to Saturday evenings, the buffet features rotating flavours inspired by South American, Italian and Asian cuisine. Everything we tried was delicious, with plenty of options to choose from. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere was relaxed. We had a wonderful evening and would definitely return next time we’re in the Hunter! We were really looking forward to the Christmas in July buffet, but unfortunately it was a very disappointing experience, especially considering the $129 per person price tag. For the price, the quality of the food was well below expectations. The variety was reasonable, but the execution and quality were not what you would expect from a hotel restaurant charging this amount. Much of the food was served cold or only lukewarm, which was incredibly disappointing. We have had far better dinners at fine dining restaurants for the same price, if not even less. The service was equally disappointing. Our used plates were left sitting on the table and were not collected in a timely manner, making the experience feel neglected and poorly managed. We would have liked to stay longer and enjoy the evening, but the overall experience made that difficult. Charging $129 per person creates high expectations. Unfortunately, this buffet fell well short of them and felt like extremely poor value for money. The food quality, temperature, and level of service simply did not match the price being charged. Had an amazing evening with my family at Locavore Restaurant. There was a small logistical issue but Grace more than made up for it with her amazing service. Food was great, ambiance was great and an excellent wine selection to top it all up. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
