My friend and I are total foodies so we decided to check out local restaurants as apart of San Jose restaurant week. We visited Loft Bar & Bistro on an early Sunday afternoon and tried the restaurant week specialty menu which includes a 3-course meal at a fixed price of $30. We both ordered different items off the menu since we planned on sharing. -Appetizers: sun-dried roasted tomato soup and the tomato & mozzarella salad. -Entrees: braised lamb shanks and the grilled bistro filet steak (medium rare). -Dessert: creme brûlée Both of the appetizers were good but nothing special. The entrees were alright. The veggies and mashed potatoes were bland and could have used seasoning. I requested a medium rare steak but instead I received medium well. They also did not have the hot fudge chocolate cake I wanted and so instead I opted for the white chocolate creme brûlée which tasted egg-y. Our server was absent and busy attending other guests most of the time. She only stopped by when we flagged her down to fill our water cups. There was also a long wait time in between receiving each course and ended up staying for a 2 hour visit. Fortunately, my friend and I weren't bothered with this too much since we were busy catching up with one another. Overall my experience was mediocre. My review gives the restaurant 4 stars but in reality it deserves 3 1/2 stars. I'm not sure I would eat here again.
