Great cocktails and a stunning back bar, paired with a fantastic laid-back atmosphere. Scher and Luke are friendly, knowledgeable and brilliant company - if you're looking for somewhere to dip away from the city centre chaos, the name doesn't lie. Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Unfortunately I cannot recommend this bar and I would urge anyone else visiting to ensure that the optional service charge is clearly stated before payment. The waitress was attentive and friendly and the cocktails were decent (although the espresso martinis were quite watery and hadn't been shaken very well), but when it came to pay, a service charge was added to every single cocktail without our knowledge - we all paid individually and no receipt was provided beforehand to state this service charge. The staff member taking the payments did not state the cost, just handed the card machine over with no mention this at the time of payment and was (in my opinion) reluctant to show the card machine. I had to lean over to see the price and check the menu after the payment was made. I was only made aware of the service charge when I queried why my charge was more than advertised on the menu. I would like to highlight that it was not made clear on the menu that a service charge would be added. I commented that this was not appropriate, and I was told by another of my party that the member of staff muttered under their breath after I left, although I am unaware of what they actually said. I found this lack of transparency very dishonest, manipulative, and taking advantage of their customer base (those who may be drunk/tipsy). They also tried to charge another member of the party for a double measure of spirit when they ordered and received a single. Looking at their responses to other negative reviews, I would like to highlight that our party was polite and not disruptive, and this is a fair review of our experience. There are far better bars in Cardiff and I would urge others to think twice before visiting Lowkey. Service: 2 Atmosphere: 2 Price per person: £10–20

First page of the menu. "A discretionary service charge is added to you bill"In terms of muttering under their breath - you may have just noticed our staff talking to each other. They do that. Otherwise, I will take that feedback to the team. If your drinks were over shaken I apologise that the team didn't get this feedback as we do train to do check backs and allow space for guests to raise any issue. Last one - we serve singles when expressed clearly, absolutely, if it was wrong on the bill that is also a simple mistake and I assure you we're not intentionally changing that- we sell very few spirit and mixers and it wouldn't be an effective hustle even if we were that way inclined. EDIT: just checked, we changed it immediately?If you want to discuss any of this further please drop us an email. This is very out of keeping from the usual guest experience (as you can tell from on here)
