Bad experience. Madeleine Jazz Bar is a place that tries to be chic, but fails miserably at simple things. I arrived without a reservation, as I couldn't find the information that I should do it on Maps, the website and Instagram. Maybe it was my mistake, so I don't blame the establishment for that. I was well received and they guided me through the establishment. I chose the balcony, for the price and because the other places were crowded. Bad choice. It was cold and the place has an air intake. I was served by the waiter Wesley, a friendly guy, extremely polite and courteous, which saved my experience at the place and this one-star rating. The daily menu was limited and had many sweet and sour options. I don't remember now the name of the things I ordered, but the first starter order was delicious, the cupcake had a honey flavor. The second was a pastelinho, which was delicious, but the chicken seemed old and the sauce had no flavor. For drinks, I only ordered natural juice, twice. The first ones arrived almost hot, I had to ask for ice the second time. I thought about ordering a pizza as a main course, but it wouldn't be worth it considering the value and flavor of the food, which I wasn't very happy with. It's more worth ordering Italian or French food through iFood. I know it's a place (that tries to be) chic, but the price doesn't match. They charge a lot for the dishes, but I sat on a backless, hard, purely wooden chair. The chairs at the table next to them had broken parts. There was dirt and the glass covering the floor below, to the right of where I sat, was cracked. The menu had more information in English than in Portuguese, although the cuisine is European. Only the waiters had etiquette; the other employees shouted to communicate with each other, walked without style and did not behave appropriately. Speaking of etiquette, they failed to present the table, placing the fork and spoon in the same place and leaving only a napkin available. I may be annoying complaining about this, but it's to contribute to my premise. Regarding music, I don't recommend taking your partner on a romantic date, unless you really like jazz-rock, because on the day I went they played that style and the drums were loud. I don't know if they play this all the time, but it didn't please me, as I expected a calm sound. Finally, my note and indignation are due to the omission of information that the cover charge was individual, causing me to be surprised by an additional amount on the bill. Of course, they disregarded the amount after the complaint, but the employee who omitted the information didn't even apologize to me, leaving it to Wesley, who saved the day again. I hope the employee wasn't penalized, but I don't know if she omitted the information or simply forgot. In any case, it made me leave irritated. I hope that the evaluation helps the establishment to improve and helps consumers to think before going to the place. Kid-friendliness: It is not a place for children. He is truly a collaborator who has our full attention and prominence. Regarding reservations, we always emphasize that it is essential, especially on weekends. We have a strong focus on telephone and WhatsApp service, but we will review how to inform our customers in every way. Regarding the issue of the cover charge and the lack of communication about it, this is always communicated in different ways in the house. Whether at the reception, on the menu, or on social media. Artistic cover or admission fees, when charged, are undoubtedly individual, and for 15 years we have valued the best quality of the bands that play with us.
