Pretty disappointed with our experience. The steak was extremely chewy and honestly not worth the $45 price tag. The portion size was way smaller than what was shown in the ads and photos, which felt pretty misleading. The oysters were actually quite good. But for $45 for steak and fries, I expected much better quality and a more filling portion. We were expecting dinner, not a snack. Unfortunately, it didn't live up to the hype or the advertising. Price per person: A$60–80 Food: 1 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 3

Yikes. We were super excited to try the steak night here, but unfortunately it ended up being a really disappointing experience. We arrived at 7:30 and after a short wait we were seated. We then sat for around 25 minutes before anyone brought water to the table. The water was cold, much like the service we received from the waitstaff. While every table around us received table service, we waited nearly 40 minutes without acknowledgement before eventually giving up and heading to the bar to order ourselves. After another 40 minute wait, our wine glasses were empty, so we went back to the bar to ask how much longer the food might be. The man with the American accent was incredibly apologetic and kindly refilled our glasses, which we really appreciated. It was only then that someone finally approached our table and asked if we’d ordered yet. We explained that we had ordered 40 minutes earlier and were still waiting. We completely understand that the restaurant was flat out busy, but a little communication or even basic acknowledgement from the waitstaff would have gone a long way. When the food finally arrived, it was cold. To be fair, it was delicious, but by that point the evening had already been overshadowed by the complete lack of service our table received. It’s especially disappointing because we had already been making tentative plans to come back with more friends for schnitzel night. Safe to say, it’s now very unlikely we’ll be returning. Price per person: A$40–60 Food: 2 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 3

I visited Margot’s for their $45 steak night special on Wednesday and, to say we were disappointed would be an understatement. From the moment we walked in, the service was off. Several patrons, including us, were left standing awkwardly at the entrance waiting to be acknowledged. I understand it was busy, but a simple “Hi, we’ll be with you shortly” would have gone a long way. Instead, two staff members repeatedly walked past without saying anything. Once we were finally seated out the front of Roma Robby (which I assume is under the same ownership given they’re side by side), our pre-ordered dozen oysters arrived first and were fresh and enjoyable. We also ordered the beef tartare, which, although small, was quite nice. The issue was the steak special itself. When the steak arrived, we were genuinely shocked by the portion size. I honestly thought there had been a mistake. When the waiter later returned with our “bottomless” fries, I showed him the promotional posts on their Instagram (screenshots attached) and asked whether what we received was the same steak advertised online. He said yes. I responded that the serving shown online looked significantly larger, and he simply replied, “Well, it is.” Coincidentally, the group of girls seated next to us were people we knew, and they were equally shocked by the portions. We all agreed the advertising felt incredibly misleading. The promotion literally states “ALL THIS FOR $45,” yet what was served looked nowhere near what had been advertised. The “bottomless” fries were equally disappointing. After finishing our small serve, I asked for another bowl and was told the single serve we received was the bottomless fries. “Bottomless” generally implies unlimited refills, not a single serving for an additional $5. What made the experience even more frustrating was hearing afterwards that the girls next to us complained to the manager and were given an extra plate for free. Meanwhile, every other table appeared to receive the same tiny portion we did. So apparently, the only way to receive what’s advertised is to complain? Overall, while some of the food was decent, the misleading advertising and poor hospitality completely ruined the experience. Unfortunately, I won’t be returning. Hi there, Thanks for the feedback. I just wanted to reassure you that the steak served was exactly the same weight as what has been advertised previously. Based on feedback from prior weeks, we recently adjusted the slicing and plating style slightly to help keep the steak hotter when it reaches the table. Because of the different presentation, it can sometimes appear a little smaller compared to previous photos or videos on Instagram, even though the portion size itself has remained the same.
